Step into the hidden world beneath our feet with mushroom expert Paul Lagreze, a beloved presence at Western Massachusetts farmers markets and a seasoned identifier with more than 25 years of experience. This hands‑on program invites curious adults and science‑minded learners to explore the rich fungal ecology of our northeastern woodlands.

Participants will learn how mushrooms function as the fruiting bodies of vast underground networks and examine the remarkable partnerships between mycorrhizal fungi and forest trees. Along the way, you’ll collect specimens, practice field identification, and gain a deeper appreciation for the essential role fungi play in healthy ecosystems.
