Join Mushroom Hunter extraordinaire Paul Lagreze in exploring the fungal world of the northeastern woods. Learn how mushrooms thrive in these forested landscapes and collect specimens to identify. Paul Lagreze has over 25 years of experience in the mushroom identification world, and you may have met him at one of the local farmers markets.

Did you know that mushrooms are the fruiting bodies or reproductive structures of a much larger underground fungus? In the past, scientists considered fungi to be plants, but now we know better. Discoveries show that fungi are more closely related to animals - including humans - than to plants! Mycorrhizal fungi have a symbiotic relationship with host trees and plants. The fungi interact with the plant’s roots and provide nutrients, getting simple sugars in return.
