Conway State Forest

Skill Level: Beginner hiker
Winter is a beautiful time to enjoy a walk in the woods and you don’t need to be an expert to don a pair of snowshoes or micro spikes to make the experience an enjoyable one. We’ll help you gear up and take your first steps in our equipment making it possible to walk on snow and ice.
Once we get going, we’ll explore the beauty of the winter forest and connect to the healing powers of nature. We’ll discover the abundance of life in the forest. With tree and bird identification as well as wildlife tracking, we can begin to know our natural world more intimately.
This walk takes us out to the Hilltowns where we will explore some private land (with permission, of course) between the Poland Brook Wildlife Management Area and Conway State Forest. This walk involves approximately 20 minutes of walking up hill. We will explore hardwood forests and areas around a beaver pond.
