Kestrel Pond & the Brookbank Trail
Age Level: 12 and up
Fitness Level: Easy - anyone can enjoy this activity!
Skill Level: Beginner hiker
Winter is a beautiful time to enjoy a walk in the woods and you don’t need to be an expert to don a pair of snowshoes or micro spikes to make the experience an enjoyable one. We’ll help you gear up and take your first steps in our equipment making it possible to walk on snow and ice.
Once we get going, we’ll explore the beauty of the winter forest and connect to the healing powers of nature. We’ll discover the abundance of life in the forest. With tree and bird identification as well as wildlife tracking, we can begin to know our natural world more intimately.
The new Kestrel Home on the Range is a great place for a walk in the woods. Overlooking a two-acre pond and just steps away from the Mount Holyoke Range State Park we’ll explore this winter landscape walking a flat trail around the pond and a gentle incline on the Brookbank Trail before returning.
Your participation in this adventure directly supports the Kestrel Land Trust and their mission to preserve open space and provide access to outdoor recreation.
